Cast Testimonies Continued:

My involvement in the play has immensely strengthened my testimony of Joseph Smith. As a convert I prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a Prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true. I knew without a doubt that that latter was answered and I used my testimony of the Book of Mormon to spark my understanding of Joseph Smith. But after getting involved in the play I realized that I hadn’t thought much more about my testimony of Joseph in the 3 years since my baptism. Through reading and editing the play I was amazed at the experiences it detailed about Joseph’s life. I looked forward to finding out more. I have never felt a stronger feeling than on opening night when I stood onstage with the cast of 50 that had worked for the last 3 months to tell the story of Joseph’s life and I just broke down crying. They were tears full of joy and accomplishment. I knew that the Prophet had accomplished all the miracles that happened during the play. I was so proud to have shared the message with the audience- some of whom were probably forming their testimonies of Joseph as well. I wanted to sing from the rooftops “Praise to the Man” to testify of Joseph’s divine life to everyone I know. Most of all, Heavenly Father testified to me that Joseph Smith was a Prophet called to rebuild the true church. I knew that the time and energy I had dedicated to the play were the most important hours of my life. I cannot adequately describe the spirit that I felt- but it has never been so strong in my life. Days later I am still carrying that spirit with me. I am thankful for my opportunity to be a part of this production. I am thankful to the Austin Stake and for everyone who dedicated resources to make this happen. Most of all I am thankful to Angie for compiling such a beautiful play and having such a patient spirit.
